Omri, I know you're clean, but it appears I judged correctly. You stated "they" all sneeze into their elbows and it sounded as though it was something you observed, rather than something you did and were glad they also did.

As I stated to you personally, you should know by now how hygienic I am! Though I admit that the hand-sneeze is deeply rooted in my bodily reaction-schemes, I am trying really hard to shift to the elbow-sneeze. In any case, even if I sneeze into my hands, I do wash them straight away and don't touch anyone or anything till I do!

Gosh, such disdain for the elbow! I don't see how elbow are coming into more contact with things than hands. Germs on door knobs, cups, everything you touch! My elbow germs can't be as easily transferred. Down the shirt is my #1 anyway.

I must admit I'm not a fan of the elbow either, they seem to get way more social action than hands. I carry tissues in every pocket / bag I own for the good old sneeze into the tissue. I also turn away from the crowd which is something people neglect to do these days. Ever sneezed while brushing your teeth? It's awful,..... toothpaste fireworks.

Hands sneezing is like the social equivelant of double dipping a chip. Preschool and kindergarden are teaching kids to sneeze in their elbows which seems like a step in the right direction. I remember when I waited for Supergrass outside the radio station in 2006 Gaz sneezed into his elbow and I was charmed!

I think from years of being told by our mothers to cover when we sneeze or cough, but never being properly instructed the resulting response has been to cover our mouth/nose. I observe this on the park playground. Three year old toddler sneezes out into the open air. Mother looks up from texting only to say "Cover your mouth when you sneeze!" child belatedly whips hands to face.
