Just read it and it's awesome! The narcissism angle is SO right on the money. People I know who like to spoil (be it a lot or a little), that's exactly what it is. They feel as though they are now a part of the thing they are revealing because they have had the express privilege of seeing it and you haven't. In short, I hate it too.

I don't want a surprise party, ever. That sounds horrible. I like to know about things in advance, so I can look forward to it and be in the right mood for it.
